REPORT your flood damage NOW!

THIS WEEK the City of Freeport needs to hear from you on any flood damage you had.  Compiling damage information is the only way to secure a federal disaster declaration for our town. If a federal declaration is obtained, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will send teams to Stephenson County ito inspect various sites and residences for damage.  At that time, a disaster assistance center will be established in the community where residents can file federal disaster claims to receive monetary help if they qualify.

The key is to get you in the system and to get you registered with the City.  We are not sure yet if they would cover damage to carpets, washers, dryers and the like, but they won't at all if we don't get the message to them.

Call the Mayor's office TODAY at 815-235-8200.  It only takes about 10 minutes or less to file a damage report over the phone.  Mainly, they will ask to provide the address where the damage occured, whether it's a home or business, how deep the water was, insurance information and contact information.

THANKS to everyone for your patience as we "wade" through the damage and work on returning things back to normal.  The Maintenance Technicians have been "swamped".  Be sure to thank them, it will be greatly appreciated.

To fill out a form for your damages, please see this link - Flood Damage Assessment Form. Please complete form, then bring or mail to City of Freeport Mayor's Office, 230 West Stephenson Street, Freeport, IL 61032, IMMEDIATELY - time is of the essence.
